01 / The role
Assassin at a glance
NCSOFT introduces Assassin through unseen approach and a shadow-like identity. That is a theme to inspect, not a complete skill list. Our finder groups Assassin with close-range offense so you can compare how you want to approach a fight before choosing a version-specific setup.
An unseen approach
Look at the publisher’s presentation to decide whether the shadow identity interests you.
Getting near the target
Use proximity as a trial question rather than assuming a particular combo or unlock.
Ranger’s shooting
Compare approaching with a class whose official presentation centers on a hunter and shooting.
02 / Find your fit
Who should try Assassin?
Shortlist Assassin if choosing an approach sounds as interesting as the attack itself. During a trial, pay attention to how you feel about repeatedly moving toward a target. If the theme appeals but you keep wishing for more distance, put Ranger beside it. If close combat matters more than the shadow identity, inspect Gladiator as well.
Explore another direction: read the Gladiator guide.
03 / Make the choice
Assassin vs Ranger
Assassin
Assassin offers the shadow and approach theme. Ask whether being near the target is part of what you want, rather than a cost you tolerate.
Ranger
Ranger offers a shooting-focused identity. Ask whether keeping an eye on distance is a better fit for the encounters you expect to repeat.
04 / Getting started
Three checks before choosing a build
Study the approach in the preview
Describe what attracts you in ordinary words: concealment as a theme, proximity, or the appearance of the attacks. Keep those reasons separate.
Check actual access conditions
Read available actions in your own client, including target and activation conditions. A stealth-themed introduction does not tell you when a particular action becomes available.
Keep an encounter diary
Note whether getting into position felt enjoyable. Compare that note with a shooting-focused preview before committing to a build guide.
Continue with the class-choice and build-reading checklist. For arithmetic on a measured run, use the manual DPS calculator.
05 / Common questions
Assassin FAQ
What makes Assassin distinct here?
Its official shadow and unseen-approach identity, paired with our close-range offense navigation label.
Why is Ranger the main comparison?
It makes the approach-versus-distance preference easier to examine while keeping an attacking theme in view.
When should I compare Gladiator instead?
When you already want close combat and are deciding whether the shadow theme matters to you more than a frontline warrior identity.
Does the introduction confirm permanent stealth?
No. Inspect your version’s actual actions and conditions for the mechanics you want to use.
Does this guide prescribe an opening combo?
It gives a class-choice exercise. Build an opening sequence only after checking the skills and conditions available in your client.
What should I check in an Assassin video guide?
Its region, update date and activity, then whether the shown skills match your available actions. Separate a highlight reel from an explained setup.
How can I evaluate whether proximity suits me?
After a trial, write down whether approaching felt purposeful or frustrating. Repeat the question across the activities you intend to play.
Can an arena statistic answer the playstyle question?
It adds context for one mode. It cannot tell you whether you enjoy the approach, positioning or class theme.

Sources and scope
Class identity and video mapping checked on against NCSOFT’s Global class overview and the official Assassin preview.
Fit questions and comparisons are editorial guidance. Role and distance labels help navigate the roster; they do not establish party eligibility, measured skill ranges, a damage ranking or a current skill build. Check region, version and available actions when applying mechanical advice.
For a separate mode-specific view, read the dated Global leaderboard snapshot.
Keep Assassin on your shortlist?
Put the two identities together, then choose which one you want to explore in your version.
